New year, new optimism

It's 2012, Happy New Year!
Most of us are exhausted and drained by the past few years. Many worked harder than ever before, re-evaluating the way we do business, view life and interact with others. It has been a crucial time for growth, both personally and professionally. As a committed optimist, I feel stronger, better prepared and more supported than I ever have in my life, and I guarantee I am not alone with this sentiment.
2012/2013 CREW Network and CREW Foundation Scholarships are now being accepted through April 27, 2012. CREW Network and CREW Foundation will award scholarships to women interested in pursuing a career in commercial real estate. Each scholarship recipient will also be provided with a paid internship at a commercial brokerage firm.
Alison Roach grew up thinking she wouldn’t be interested in a career in real estate because her father was in real estate. That changed when she started doing some research work on the side, going through thousands of pages of documents.
“What was there, every question that was asked, I just found fascinating. It seems like every question that comes up in real estate was interesting,” she said. “And I like the ability to create your own career. You can make your own hours. It’s just a really dynamic field, you have a lot of options.”
Roach, 22, is a senior at San Diego State University where she’s studying for her bachelor’s degree in real estate. Earlier this year, she was awarded a $10,000 scholarship from the CREW (Commercial Real Estate Women) Network. A fellow member of the school’s Real Estate Society encouraged Roach to apply for the scholarship, and she did, for two reasons.
